I just finished watching the Anime Move "Perfect Blue" courtesy of NetFlix new streaming video feature - oddly enough, there system says "Availability Unknown" for the actual physical DVD, so I wathed it "On Demand" as it were.

What a GREAT MOVIE!!!

The visuals are reminisent of Paranoia Agent, and the plot very Alfred Hitchcock. And I have to admit (with glee) that the "bad guy" was who I thought it was from near the beginning of the movie BUT they did an excellent job of changing my mind and seemingly confirming my "new choice" only to prove me wrong! Good plot twists and turns, even better then "keeps you guessing" they made me think knew what was coming.

There are no magical girls, no mechs, no spaceships - not even a bulletproof hero with inhuman aim.

This is good old fashion "Psycho-Thriller" genre at it's best, just as good and in some ways better then anything Hollywood has put out!

5 Stars, AAA, and 2 thumbs WAAAAY UP. If you have the chance to see thing - DO IT!

I love old movies. I'm a Hitchcock fan. (I really love "The Thin Man" movies, and find them as fresh and witty as anything out of Hollywood nowadays..) I will check it out.

ann

wait a tic....netflix has streaming video? On demand? Neither of the American anime channels are available to us on our satellite system (living in the stix has its disadvantages) - I'll check that out as well!

Yep, and IT"S FREE. The only limit is time per month which is $=hrs. What ever you pay a month for your plan, in dollars, is how many hours you get per month to watch.

NetFlix FTW!!!

Arghhhh! I am so there! Beats waiting for the mailman to deliver DVDs when your mailbox is a mile away in an area where mailbox theft is common and most theives make their way accross the border with their booty before you even know you've been robbed. (Got burned twice and am looking into a P.O. box....)

Netflix, here I come!

While they aren't on demand (I don't think...) I just added:

Millenium Actress
Tokyo Godfathers

...to my Queue They are two movies made by the same director and team as Perfect Blue, so I SURE they are going to be JUST AS FABULOUS.

I'll let you all know - gotta get through Gunslinger Girl and Sol Bianca first...
